Star Mist Diary 3 (2026)

Dear Friends,
Welcome back aboard Star Mist after a llllllong winter! Our voyage last year took a lot of unexpected tacks and jibes. We got stuck “on the hard” (on land) waiting for engine repairs — so we barely crossed into Norwegian waters last September when heavy clouds covered the sky and shivery jabs of winter blew in the cold wind.

So this year, we threw off our bowlines in late June in Strömstad Marina in Sweden (where Star Mist sat cozy inside over the winter) and sailed up to sunny Skjærhalden, Norway, now a buzzing summer beach town.

What a difference two months make! At this time of year, the sun technically sets at 10:39 pm, and it peaks over the horizon again before 3:00 am to start a new day! That’s why Norway is called the land of the Midnight Sun.

Join us as we explore the delicate seaside towns and striking scenery of Norway’s coastal archipelagos this summer. The Norwegians are already fanning out to sea — they’re Vikings, after all — and plunging into the cold Baltic with glee.

We’re glad you’re with us on the wind-powered journey.

All aboard! xo Beth and Gero
